What is Truth?

Over 2,000 years ago, Pontius Pilate had asked this very question, "what is truth?" (John 18:38) And today, people are still asking this same question, to include you ... hence why you are on this page.

Is truth relative? Is truth subjective? Is there such a thing as absolute truth? Is truth simply an illusion? Where does truth come from? These are the questions still being asked after two millennia of generations, revealing the fact that these questions aren't generational, cultural, or time-specific, but are transcendent questions of human nature and understanding.

So, what is truth? Is truth something one merely believes in, or is truth-truth, regardless of if it is known at the time? Take for instance the riddle before Mt Everest was discovered, what was the tallest mountain on earth? Some say Makalu, others say K2, while a few say Lhotse. But the fact of the matter is that Mt Everest has always been the tallest mountain in the world, even if it wasn't known at the time. Mt Everest didn't simply become the tallest mountain in the world once someone stumbled upon its truth. Rather, Mt Everest has always been the tallest mountain in the world, regardless of if anyone knew its truth or not. Its truth was there just waiting to be discovered.

So, again, what is truth? Is truth something that is believed or discovered? I argue it's the latter rather than the former. Truth is truth, regardless of whether one believes it or not. The truth of gravity exists whether or not I believe in the Law of Gravity. Me jumping off a ladder allows me to not only to discover the truth of gravity, but also experience it.

So, what is truth?

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life..." (John 14:6)

Truth is found in Jesus Christ, His life and His message. So naturally the next question is, who is Jesus? And what Jesus? Is it the Jesus of the Protestant Bible? The Mormon Jesus? Jesus of the Jehovah's Witnesses? What about the Muslim Jesus or the Hindu version of Jesus? Are all these Jesus's true? The Law of Non-Contradiction (two opposing statements cannot be true at the same time) reveals that all these different Jesus's cannot be true for they are each different from one another.

So, which Jesus is it? How do we know?

The Empty Tomb. Study the claims of Jesus of Nazareth, the Jesus of the Protestant Bible, and seek to disprove the Empty Tomb, and you just may find out, what is really true!

The truth of Jesus Christ is discoverable, and is true, regardless of if it's believed or not. I pray that you not only discover this truth, but also that you experience it as well!

What Do You Do Now?

Realizing the truth of Jesus of Nazareth, and the power of His resurrection, the most important thing you could do now is to know if you will receive eternal life. Jesus Christ said eternal life is received by faith (John 3:16) in His sacrifice on the cross for your sins, and that by His resurrection, you can have eternal life.

If you have never trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior, I pray you do so today! If you don't know how, simply talk to God right now, admit that you have broken His laws (committed sins) and that you truly believe, and trust, that Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection paid the penalty for your sins. And that you accept the free gift of eternal life He offers you!

If you have done that, I rejoice with you in the most important decision you will ever make in your life! Please let me know by sending me an email so I can rejoice with you personally! c4capologetics@gmail.com

The next step is now to find a Bible-believing church near you to serve Christ, and to grow, with other Christians.
